PERSONAL ACCIDENT

Q. I am hurt whilst body surfing. Am I covered?

A. Yes, the policy does not exclude body surfing.

Q. My son hurt himself climbing over a fence and there was no public liability insurance covering the area. Am I covered?

A. Yes, his bodily injuries and medical expenses are covered.

 

 

CANCELLATION, OVERSEAS MEDICAL AND EXTRA EXPENSES

Q. My boss died whilst I was on my holiday, and I had to cut the trip short to return to work to take over a key management role. Am I covered?

A. Yes, close business associates under the age of 80 years are included.

Q. My father died unexpectedly whilst I was on my trip, and the family have to return home for the funeral. Are we covered?

A. Yes, provided the relative is under the age of 80 years and has no existing medical conditions

Q. I have a bad fall whilst skiing and broke my jaw and some teeth, which requires immediate dental work. Am I covered?

A. Yes, you are covered under overseas medical expenses not recoverable from any other source.

Q. I am involved in motor car accident and need an ambulance. Am I covered?

A. Yes, overseas medical expenses includes ambulance

Q. Due to an illness I pick up whilst on the trip, I need to extend my stay at the hotel until fit to travel. Am I covered?

A. Yes, under the additional/cancellation/curtailment expenses up to the policy limit.

Q There is a airline strike and I have to stay over in the hotel and buy additional meals. Am I covered?

Yes, provided it is a circumstance unforeseeable and outside your control

Q. The coach company I was to take my tour on, collapses and I am out of pocket. Am I covered.

A. Yes, after recovery by you from the Travel Compensation Fund in Australia and/or other statutory fund or scheme or any other source.

Q. The airline I am travelling on collapses and I am left stranded. Am I covered for the additional expense of getting home on another carrier?

A. Yes up to the limit of the policy. You must contact the ATLAS or EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE, and they will endeavour to provide alternate transport.

Q. The cruise line I am booked to travel on collapses. Am I covered for the money I paid for the cruise?

A. Yes, up to the limit of the policy and after recovery from any other source.

Q The airline we were booked to travel on goes into receivership and we have to take another airline to complete our trip. Am I covered?

A. Yes, up to the limit of the policy, and after recovery from any other source

Q There is a collision involving the trains and I have to take alternate transport to get to the next part of my trip. Am I covered?

A. Yes as above.

Q. If the tour operator collapses and there is insufficient money in the compensation fund to cover my payment am I covered?

Yes, we will pay up to the limit after recovery by you.

Q When we get to the destination, where we have booked a sailing boat for a week, there is an unexpected storm, and it is unsafe to sail in the weather, but I cannot get a refund on my prepayment, am I covered for the loss?

A. Yes, provided there has not bee a public warning prior to the booking.

Q. The Tour operator cancels our tour, because there are insufficient numbers to operate the trip, am I covered for the expense of taking an alternate trip?

A. . No, this is an exclusion on the policy, refer to exclusions section 3.

Q Due to a motor collision I cannot complete my journey, am I covered for the loss of prepayments on hotels, tours etc that I will be unable to take because of time restrictions?

A. Yes, unexpected injury suffered during the travel is covered for reasonable extra travel and accommodation expenses.

Q I lose or break my glasses whilst on my trip and have to get a replacement pair. Am I covered?

A. Yes, it would be covered under personal effects.

Q. My suitcase is lost by the airline. Am I covered?

A. Yes, after recovery from the airline we will pay the difference up to the sum insured

Q. My suitcase is stolen from the hotel lobby whilst the group is checking out. Am I covered?

A. The traveller must take reasonable precautions for the safety and supervision of the insured luggage, items left unattended in a public place are not covered.

Q. My wife catches a rare disease and dies. I have to bury her in that country and cannot take the body home. Am I covered for funeral expenses etc.

A. Yes, reasonable funeral or cremation costs are covered.

Q I have an accident whilst snow skiing, and need medical attention. Am I covered?

A. Yes, overseas medical expenses are covered up to the sum insured.

Q. I also break my skis during the accident. Am I covered for replacement skis?

A. No, the policy excludes sporting equipment whilst in use.

Q. Whilst water skiing I have an accident. Am I covered?

A. Yes, the policy does not exclude water skiing.

Q. Are my children aged under 21 covered under the insurance?

A. Yes under their own policies.

Q. After an accident I have to call my family back home to advise the state of my health and what I will be doing. Am I covered for the cost of the telephone calls?

A. Only if you are hospitalised overseas as an in-patient up to $100 per day, up to the maximum of $2,5000

TRIP CANCELLATION

Q. If I fall ill and the Doctors says I may not travel what will happen bout my prepaid deposit of fares?

A. Provided your Doctor has issue a certificate to say you are unfit for travel you will receive a refund in full.

Q. I have changed my mind and don't want to go on the trip anymore. Can I get my deposit or prepaid money back?

A. Provided you are within the cancellation time limits provided under Conditions and Terms of Booking you will get a full refund. If the Club or you can find someone else to take your place and recompense you for your outlay you will get a refund, subject to other Service Providers agreeing.

Q. If I lose my job and cannot afford to travel or my new place of employment will not grant me leave what happens. Provided you can substantiate the facts we will endeavour to obtain a full refund for you of you can claim on insurance.

Baggage, Credit Cards, Travel Documents and Money

Q. If my bag goes missing on a leg of the journey what will happen?

A. If the airline or carrier has not found it within 24 hours the insurance will provide you with up to $250 in emergency funds to buy personal needs to sustain you until it is determined if the baggage has been totally lost. In this case the insurance will pay you for the replacement value of the suitcase and contents.

 

DEFAULT OF SERVICE PROVIDER

Q. What happens if one of the companies with which I am scheduled to travel goes into liquidation or goes bankrupt?

A. The Insurance company will re-emburse you all or the shortfall between what any other entity or receiver pays you out of the insolvency.

Q. What happens if a transport company goes broke whilst I am overseas?

A. The insurance cover provides for the repatriation by another carrier and your reasonable out of pocket expenses.

LOSS OF PERSONAL JEWELLERY  CELL PHONES PERSONAL COMPUTERS

Q. Whilst I am travelling I loose my cell phone (mobile phone) am I covered?

A. No Items such as cell phones, personal jewellery, laptop computers, cameras and other items not forming part of your personal luggage are not covered they must be insured separately.
