WHY ATLAS TRAVEL INSURANCE IS SO LESS EXPENSIVE

Why you might ask, is Atlas Travel Insurance so much cheaper than other Travel Insurance products on the market offered by travel agents?

Well when you buy travel insurance from a Travel Agent, the agent is going to receive up to 60% of the cover price in commission! Yes that's right, 60%! Some will get even more. The distributor (The Brand Name under which you buy the policy) will take another 20% as his margin, the rest goes to the underwriter (that small print name you see on the back page as the Underwriter) who is usually a solid entity and who is underwriting the risk. Travel insurance is a Travel Agent's single highest commission earner. They don't like you to know this, and it's part of the reason they try to convince you to take out the highest possible cover - so that they will earn maximum dollars.

It also explains why you will see some agents in the newspapers offering 25% or more off travel insurance. They could not do this unless they were earning big commissions to start with could they? Also don't believe all that poppy cock about the costs of medical care in USA. To visit a doctor in USA costs on average $AUD60 (US$30). Unless you fall under a bus (and perhaps even then) US$40,000 (AUD$78,000) is going to be more than enough to meet most medical attention. The travel agent exaggerates medical costs to scare you into taking more cover than you need. If you think about it, there is no more health risk when you are travelling than when you are at home, in fact in many cases the risk is less.

What the Atlas Clubs have done, is to cut all these middlemen out creating huge savings, and because of our size deal directly with the underwriter. We then pass on the savings to our members. Of course it also helps that we have such huge buying power due to the size of our world wide membership, a good track record over the 15 years and can guarantee large volumes of policies.

Insurance Certificates We have been covering members through our own in-house Travel Insurance since 1987. During this time we have established the benefit parameters which offer the best cover against the potential risks that most travellers will face when travelling either domestically or overseas. Club Members are covered under a Master policy held by The Atlas Club Inc (incorporated in Nevada USA) and which is underwritten by a Member Company of the Atlas International Insurance Group (Incorporated in Bermuda) and extends to cover The Atlas Club Inc (USA), The Atlas Club Ltd of Australia, The Atlas Club Inc of New Zealand, The Atlas Club Inc in Canada, The Atlas Club (Pte) in U.K. Each member then receives a separate insurance certificate for the period of cover. The period of insurance of our Master Policy is from 1st December to 1st December each year. It is then renewed each year. Each member is automatically covered under this policy in the applicable sections, upon paying the premium. The insurance cover upon payment of one small premium, commences from the time you leave your normal place of residence until you return to your normal place of residence or end your one way journey irrespective of how long you are away, within the time limits in the policy , except in that for the cover against loss of deposits, cancellation charges and default of Service Provider, which commences from the date upon which you pay for your premium. You may also pay all or part of your Atlas Travel Insurance premium using your Travel Cash reward points. Fancy that, free travel insurance! To obtain Atlas Travel Insurance cover you must firstly be an Atlas member as you need an Atlas Membership number to apply for cover..
