As most of you know, we run a wide spectrum of free competitions which provide endless fun and amusement and valuable prizes. These are designed to add value to your club membership and are also a way of distributing some advertising and other revenue profits back to the members as we are a non profit club. Unfortunately there are many sites on the Internet nowadays which purely propagate free internet competitions, and as a result we have found that many new members are joining the club simply to access the bounty from our free competitions. This is not the spirit of our club, nor is it in accordance with the Club's rules and constitution. The club relies on its members being active in its various activities and benefits provided within the club for its commercial well being. It also is necessary for our members to be active in order for us to have the collective buying force which allows us to create our travel and other bargains, and also holds down amongst other things our insurance premiums. Whilst we cannot force members to be active and do not wish to curtail people from joining the club, who may at a later date utilize some of the terrific benefits and deals we provide, we have to take steps to avoid the insurgence of new members who are simply there to plunder the prize pool. These members are disadvantaging the chances of our active members who participate in the club activities and for whom the bounty of the prizes is essentially created. Therefore as from this date 14th May 2003, forward, any member winning a prize or cash in any of our existing or new competitions, will be required to pay a "Prize Processing Fee" of 200 Travel Cash Reward Points (TC Points) out of their existing TC Points Bank in order to collect the prize or money. The 200 TC Points must be in your TC Bank at the time of the draw. After all , you would hardly expect to win a jackpot on a poker machine if you hadn't put any money in, or a lottery if you hadn't bought a ticket, or for that matter any other prize associated with a competition unless you bought the product of the sponsor would you? If we just wanted to give money away to anyone we would be better donating it to a charity, instead we want those members who are active in the club to benefit from the competitions, which we think is only fair. Seeing as how Travel Cash Reward Points are obtained for free anyway by participating in our activities and benefits, the competition still remains essentially free, after all there is no activity, benefit or deal within the club, that does not have at least 200 Travel Cash Reward Points attached to it. Your Board of Directors feels that this is a very fair decision considering the enormous value of the prizes in the competitions and the amounts of money available through Badgedraws. On behalf of The Board of Directors |
